Doc is a 8-10 year old Keeshond who arrived at the shelter as a stray. He is a wonderful older dog who loves to go for walks and will walk at whatever pace you ask of him. Doc has a great smile that he uses when you are giving him a good scratch and he will charm your socks off if you come in and meet him! Doc will not be placed in a home with small children due to his age, but he seems to enjoy other dogs, cats, and people of all ages.

These are 5 -6 month-old Keeshond – probable German Shepherd mix puppies. They were abandoned by a breeder who used artificial insemination to produce this pair. The breeder was expecting full-blooded Keeshonden (or German Shepherds) and was not happy to find this “mistake.”
If you or anyone you know is up for adopting a puppy, please leave a comment to this post or go to

Thanks.

It is important that you check to see that your Keeshond is using the correct Keeshond sleeping position (KSP). In this position, both rear legs must be vertically oriented and pointed toward the ceiling, while the forelegs are twisted off to one side, and are parallel to the floor. Two variations of the KSP are recognized: The full KSP uses no support; the modified KSP uses a wall or piece of furniture for vertical support of the rear legs.
The top 2 pictures are of Scruffy – 1 in modified KSP and 1 in full KSP.
The lower picture is of Leo or Jade (I can’t tell which) in a modified KSP. I believe (but am not sure) that the Japanese characters with arrows are pointing out the 2 major aspects of the KSP (rear legs vertical, front legs parallel to floor).
If anyone else has any pictures of a Keeshond in these positions, I would be glad to post them.
So far the response has been underwhelming. I received one picture (from my wife, of course) and its not even a dog much less a Keeshond. The position is not even correct and would only get about 4 out of 10 points. Notice thay the rear legs are not really vertical and that the forelegs are not outstreched.

This is not a freeze-motion shot. Those drools are thick and slow. Yummie!

Leo, whose birthday was a few days ago (see a few posts back), was not feeling well this morning and had diarrhea. His mom says he’s feeling better now. She is a good mother. Charlie, Ruby and me wish Leo a speedy recovery.

The picture is of Scruffy and Karen a few years ago.
We are planning to go again tonight, this time with Charlie and Ruby.

Leo is 7 years old today.
Happy Birthday from Charlie and Ruby (and me).

Ruby is out of view lying belly-up on the sidewalk with karen massaging her chest with her foot. Charlie was jealous so he got on my lap.
Life is good, and has been, for so many years. Look at the top of the right-hand column and see a very similar picture of me and Scruffy many years ago.
